10 Years of Head Energy Denmark

This year marks an important milestone for Head Energy Denmark as the company celebrates its 10-year anniversary.

Ten years ago, the setup looked very different. There were no modern office buildings, glass facades, or designer furniture. In fact, the starting point was as simple as it gets.

What started in Esbjerg in 2016 as Head Energy Group’s first international offshore wind venture has, over the past decade, grown into an established engineering and consulting business supporting customers across the energy sector, with a particular focus on offshore wind, renewable energy and energy infrastructure.

Back then, offshore wind was already gaining momentum in Denmark, and Esbjerg had established itself as one of Europe’s leading hubs for the industry. For Head Energy, being close to the projects, customers and people shaping the market was a natural next step. Establishing a presence in Denmark provided a strong foundation and direct access to a rapidly developing industry.

Growing alongside the industry

Over the last ten years, both the company and the industry around it have evolved significantly. Offshore wind has developed from an emerging market into a key pillar of Europe’s energy transition, and Head Energy Denmark has grown alongside it.

What began with offshore wind consulting and engineering support has gradually expanded into a broader range of services and expertise. Today, Head Energy Denmark delivers specialist engineering competence, consulting services and project support across offshore wind, electrical engineering and energy infrastructure projects throughout Northern Europe.

-Over the past 10 years, we have developed from a smaller local organisation into a well-established company with strong relationships throughout the value chain, says Anders Frederiksen, General Manager of Head Energy Denmark.

Building expertise and expanding capabilities

A significant milestone came in 2022 with the acquisition of DanGrid, strengthening the company’s capabilities within electrical engineering and high-voltage systems. Combined with continued growth within offshore wind and renewable energy, this has further broadened Head Energy Denmark’s role within the energy sector.

Today, the company supports projects ranging from offshore wind farms and marine operations to grid infrastructure, power systems and future energy solutions. At the same time, the Danish organisation has continued to grow through new initiatives, expanded capabilities and a stronger presence across multiple markets.

The people behind the success

Employees, consultants, customers and partners have all played an important role in shaping Head Energy Denmark into what it is today. Many of the relationships established in the early years remain strong, something the company considers one of its greatest achievements.

-At the heart of our business are the people. The relationships we have built with employees, customers and partners over the years are what have made our development possible, says Frederiksen.

-Many of those relationships go back to our earliest days, and that is something we are incredibly proud of.

Looking ahead

Although the anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the company’s development over the past ten years, it is also a moment to look forward.

The energy industry continues to evolve rapidly, creating new opportunities and challenges. Head Energy Denmark remains committed to staying close to its customers, delivering high-quality expertise and contributing to the development of future energy solutions.

As Head Energy Denmark celebrates its first decade, it is also an opportunity to thank everyone who has been part of the story so far — employees, customers, partners and colleagues across the wider Head Energy Group.
