Head Energy Solve contributes to life extension of Gassco's receiving facility

On behalf of Equinor, acting as the technical service provider for Gassco, Head Energy Solve is conducting multidisciplinary studies of Gassco’s receiving terminals in Belgium and France. These studies form the basis for precise and efficient upgrades to the terminals, ensuring a stable supply of Norwegian natural gas to Europe for decades to come.

Gassco operates the Norwegian gas transport system and is the operator of the receiving terminals at Zeebrugge in Belgium and Dunkirk in France. These terminals are strategically located to deliver Norwegian gas to consumer countries in Western Europe, ensuring.

After more than 25 years of operation, upgrading the facilities is necessary to maintain a stable and secure supply of Norwegian natural gas to Europe for 30—50 years to come.

High demands for precise planning

Head Energy Solve's role in the project includes multidiscipline studies to plan modifications and replacements in both terminals. The installation work itself must be carried out in auditing offices within very limited time frames, which places high demands on precise planning:

- There is a requirement for close to 100% uptime in the facilities, and all installation activities must be completed within a short window of time. Extending an audit shutdown is not an option. Head Energy Solve ensures this through in-depth concept and definition studies, which include, among other things, system upgrades, equipment replacements, detailed project and installation plans as well as cost estimates, says Thor Steinsland, Technical Manager at Head Energy Solve.
